Glamour Shots for Quilts

Lately I've seen a lot of quilts in "non-traditional" pictures, and it's really interesting.  So I got out my digital camera and thought I'd give it a try.  This seems like a great idea when I want to show a quilt on my blog, and don't want just the straight on picture.

Which do you like better?  Or both together?  They are both just beginner shots, but this may be interesting!

By the way, this is my Colorways quilt, patchwork with machine quilting, made in 2012.  It's alternating Nine Patch and Churn Dash blocks.

  1. I like seeing the whole quilt. The trend in magazines of showing just a portion of the quilt while the rest is draped/bunched artistically over something annoys me. I've stopped buying magazines because of this!

Your quilt is soooo pretty! I love the colors.

  2. I agree with Sara - when the quilt is all "posed," sometimes you can hardly see what the blocks are, and with your quilt, you'd never see the fantastic secondary pattern created by alternating those two blocks.

Great quilt and block combo - much more interesting than the standard 9patch w/ snowball!

  3. If the quilt is going to be posed, I like to see the whole shot as well so I can "SEE" the quilt.

  5. I prefer full shots so you can see the whole design. I really like the colors and the design of your quilt. It is so neat that two blocks that are so simple can make such a beautiful quilt.
