Quilt for Dana's Mom

Dana's Mom was having her 90th birthday, and Dana wanted to give her a quilt made from her wedding dress. The dress was lace over satin, and in really good condition, considering it was 60 years old!

A central diamond design was used, with alternating lace covered satin, and satin borders.  Dana wanted a fairly simple feather design in the quilting, and it was a pretty finish for the quilt.

I was also able to make a pillow from the bodice and sleeves of the dress, with the bodice front and sleeves on the front, and the bodice back with covered buttons on the back.

The quilt and pillow were finished in time for the birthday party, I hope she enjoys it!

Ruffled Wedding Dress Quilt

Ruffled Wedding Dress Quilts can be interesting to design and sew!

Audri's wedding dress had a skirt and train that had LOTS of ruffles.  She wanted something that really showed off the ruffles, was a less traditional design, and included the dusty pink ombre at the bottom of the dress.

So I used the ruffles from the dress for a large part of the quilt, and left a curved "pie shape" in the corner for machine quilting.

The satin underskirt was used for the machine quilted area of the quilt.  I used dusty pink thread for the background quilting, to tie in with the ombre in the ruffles. Lots of feathers in the quilting design!

I'm very pleased with the result, and Audri was really happy with it too.
