Wedding Dress Quilt for Lisa

Lisa asked for a wedding dress quilt that also used the colors  in her son and daughter-in-law's wedding. Using a nice cotton fabric for the quilt made it more practical, rather than just being decorative.

In the center of the quilt I created a pretty feather design for the machine quilting.  The lace from her dress show up beautifully over the navy fabric, and the red was a nice contrast.  I embroidered the bride and groom's names and the date in the center.  Mom and Dad's names and their wedding date were put on the decorative label on the back of the quilt.

Wedding Dress Quilt for Andrea

Andrea wanted me to use her beautiful wedding dress, maid of honor and bridesmaid's dresses in a quilt.  She wanted to incorporate her wedding flowers, jasmine, in the quilting design, and a celtic knot design.  The end result was one of my favorite wedding dress quilts.

The center was an oval frame, filled with a jasmine "bouquet".  The rest of the center was solid lace from her dress.  Then, borders from the two dresses, and their green sashes.  The outer border was a feather design.

Two Wedding Dress Quilts for Glenda

Glenda had a beautiful heavy satin wedding dress, with a woven border and lace embellishments.  She wanted a quilt for each of her children, and we worked together to create two very different quilts!

For her daughter, I placed the border of the dress and train at the top and bottom of the quilt, and added machine embroidered butterflies in the daughter's wedding colors, hunter green and coral.  I quilted in an allover feather design.  The finished quilt is 50" x 60".

For her son, I made a very different quilt.  As you can see in the picture, it's a banner, with embroidered lamb, lion and crown.  The animals and crown were machine embroidered, and the banner was then appliqued onto the quilt. The ribbon at the bottom with "Thy Will Be Done" was also appliqued. Then the quilt was machine quilted in a feather design.  The banner is "hanging" from the satin flower that was on the back of Glenda's wedding dress.

Wedding dress (and tie) Quilt for Kelly

Kelly wanted to make her pretty lace wedding dress into a small quilted wall hanging.  She wanted to incorporate her husband's tie and her garter into the quilt.

I used a navy fabric under the lace to coordinate with the tie and garter.  The tie became the inner border, quilted along the grey lines in the tie.  The center of the quilt is the satin lining from her dress. I quilted a large wreath in the center. The quilt is 36" x 36".
